The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy (ESP) of the University of Milan is brand new structure born in in April 2017 to stimulate the dialogue and collaboration between the multiple and diversified disciplines and scientists occupied with finding viable solutions to the disruptive and complex environmental problem. In particular, the intent is to stimulate the rising an integrated perspective between natural science and social science as precondition to find sustainable solutions to the environmental problem

The Team

SMARTDEST team members at University of Milan belong to two areas of expertise: management and informatics. Researchers in the area of management are specializing on SMART innovation, intended as the application and adoption of a specific set of technologies and methodologies to the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources. Researchers in the areas of informatics are specializing on the prototyping of cloud- and AI-based systems of data collection and computing.

Andrea Ganzaroli

Andrea Ganzaroli is Associate Professor at University of Milan. He received his Ph.D. from the Rotterdam School of Management. He teaches environmental management and circular economy, and digital marketing and innovation. His research interests are in the areas of regional innovation management and smart innovation management. It is involved in several European and National projects aiming at assessing the economic, social, and environmental impact of smart technologies. The result of his work is published in journal such as Tourism Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and European Journal of Innovation Management.

Silvia Blasi

Silvia Blasi is a Post Doc fellow at the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Milan since 2020. She defended her PhD. in Economics & Management at the University of Padova in 2018 with a thesis titled “Social issues applied to energy sector: from corporate social responsibility to collective switching “. In 2012 she obtained a master degree in Management at the “UniversitàdegliStudi Milano-Bicocca” in Milan. Silvia has been visiting fellow at Cardiff University in 2017 at the Department of Economics and Management. She is interested in sustainable innovation, social entrepreneurship, hybrid organizations, corporate social responsibility, and environmental economics. Her works has been accepted and published in journals such as Ecological Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Industry and Innovations.
